About My Jewelry...
I am a lapidary artist as well as jewelry maker. My studio is located in beautiful Morro Bay, California. I fabricate all of my own stone cabochons which I use in jewelry. This allows me to easily customize a piece by resizing or changing the shape of a stone. And, it allows me to "fit" a stone to an existing setting. Have a stone that you want made into a jewelry piece? No problem! Send me a request at the "Contact" button at the top of the page.
I love using local minerals! I feature lots of minerals that come from coastal and inland California, such as mushroom rhyolite, plasma agate, and the diverse jasper agates. But I also enjoy working with turquoise, amazonite, Montana agate, and various plume agates.
My stones are set in a few different ways- traditional bezel setting; drilling and hanging by knotted cord or pinch bail; or by cutting a "girdle groove" in the stone, with half-round wire in sterling or gold to secure the stone. In the last case, the bail is hand tied and reinforced with wire wrap. This minimizes the coverage of the stone with metal which makes it less expensive and much lighter in weight!
